The artist

Biography

Classical guitarist Thibault Hennequin places sound, colour and the expressive possibilities of his instrument at the heart of his work.

His musical journey began in Cahors with percussion, drums and electric guitar before he devoted himself fully to classical guitar. These early experiences continue to shape his feeling for rhythm and the texture of sound.

His work spans the solo repertoire and chamber music, with a particular interest in contemporary creation. Through premieres and collaborations with composers, he explores musical language, timbre and the many voices of the guitar.

A finalist in the 2016 Concours international Roland Dyens – Révélation Guitare Classique, he performs as a soloist and chamber musician. His appearances include the Salle Cortot in Paris, festivals and concert series, as well as tours in France and abroad.

Encounters between instruments and musical worlds are central to his practice. With flautist Jungha Suh, he has spent several years developing a shared repertoire for flute and guitar. Together, they explore the balance between breath and strings, seeking new shades of colour and expression.

Teaching is the other essential strand of his work. For Thibault Hennequin, it is a natural extension of artistic exploration: developing the ear, finding a physical approach that serves the sound, and helping each musician discover their own way of bringing a work to life. He currently holds the French teaching title Professeur d’Enseignement Artistique.
